Flavors of rich, ripe blackberry jam, mocha and toast are wrapped into firm but refined tannins in this Cabernet. The most basic of the winery’s Cabs, and the first of the vintage to be released, it’s drinking well now and bodes well for the coming 2011 reserves and blends.

Alexander ValleyBuy Now
Our Cabernet Sauvignon comes from mountain-grown fruit in Alexander Valley. Cedar, graphite, fresh blackberry and spice aromas delight with a soft mouth feel that boasts flavors of mocha, black tea, wild berry and clove. Velvety tannins and sweet notes of caramel and chocolate abound in the finish.
Our mountain vines are dry farmed in shallow, rocky, low-vigor soil that adds impressive depth and concentration of flavors to the wine. 2011 was one of the coolest growing seasons experienced in the valleys in a long time. We harvested the grapes about two weeks later than usual, starting mid September and completing harvest the middle of October.
This wine is composed primarily of Cabernet Sauvignon, blended with small amounts of Syrah and Petit Verdot. The hand-harvested grapes enter the gravity-flow winery and whole berries are gravity fed into tanks for fermenting before pressing. Individual lots are moved to barrels for malolactic fermentation, then blended and cave aged for 16 months prior to bottling, allowing for the perfect balance of fruit, tannin and oak.
