Aaron joined Ferrari-Carano in 2003, in time to work directly with Don and Rhonda Carano on the design and construction of Ferrari-Carano’s mountain winemaking facility. Aaron spearheads Ferrari-Carano’s Red Wine Program, including the PreVail line of vineyard designate wines, all of which is housed at Ferrari-Carano’s Mountain Winery in Alexander Valley, one of the most scenic properties in Sonoma County, and one of extraordinary diversity.
Aaron is responsible for a range of Ferrari-Carano’s red wines, including the rich, powerful Trésor, a blend of red Bordeaux varietals, Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, Merlot, Siena, the winery’s proprietary blend of Sangiovese, as well as the PreVail wines, Back Forty and West Face.
Born and raised in Sonoma, California, Aaron earned his Bachelor of Science degree in fermentation science from the University of California at Davis in 1996. Aaron first immersed himself in the business in 1994 working the lunch shift in a fine Sonoma restaurant then working the swing shift in the cellar of Sebastiani Vineyards. A winemaking internship at ZD Wines in 1995 was followed by full time winemaking at Viansa, and prior to Ferrari-Carano, as associate winemaker for Franciscan Estates working on the Mount Veeder and Quintessa wines.
