2007 Ferrari-Carano TrésorAlexander Valley
Aptly named “Trésor” for “treasure,” - this wine has delicious aromas of blueberry, blackberry and cassis combine with a vibrant mid-palate of roasted mocha and vanilla. With a full-bodied and impressive tannin profile, this wine’s upfront silkiness and roundness make for a delicious selection now and will drink well for 15—20 years.

A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Petit Verdot, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc, the 2007 Tresor Proprietary Red is a deep, rich, full-bodied wine displaying notes of graphite, blueberries, blackberries, spice box, and background oak. It is a young, formidably endowed, moderately tannic effort that requires 2 - 3 years of bottle age. It should last 20 - 25 years.
Upon entering the winery, the grapes are destemmed, hand sorted then whole-berry fermented in tank before pressing. Individual lots are moved to barrels for malolactic fermentation, then blended and barrel aged in new and older French oak for 20 months, allowing for the perfect balance of fruit intensity, tannin suppleness and oak sweetness.
Our 2006 Trésor complements lamb, beef, chicken mole, and duck dishes that are roasted or braised. Try Trésor with strong-flavored cheeses such as gorgonzola and sharp cheddar.
Our mountain vines are dry farmed in shallow, rocky, low-vigor soil that add impressive depth and concentration of flavor intensity to the wine. The 2007 season was characterized by low rainfall, absence of dramatic heat spikes and a cool fall. Harvest started early and quickly, the first grapes for Trésor being picked the beginning of September, then slowed to a beautiful pace. The last Cabernet Sauvignon grapes were harvested in mid-October at perfect conditions.
