SIENA has delicious aromas and flavors of fresh-picked blackberries, cola, cinnamon, cherry pie and vanilla bean. Sweet oak notes of spice, roasted marshmallow, caramel and vanilla complement lingering, bright red and black berries. SIENA has tannins that are soft, harmonious and mouth coating with lovely viscosity, depth and a tremendous finish.

Blended with Sangiovese, Syrah, Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon, this is a big, exuberant wine that's full bodied and fruity. 2011 was one of the coolest growing seasons experienced in the valleys in a long time. We harvested the grapes about two weeks later than usual, starting mid September and completing harvest the end of October. This vintage produced a bright and vibrant wine.
SIENA consists primarily of Sangiovese. Upon entering the winery, grapes are hand sorted and then gravity fed directly into tanks for three days of cold soaking. The wine is fermented on the skins for about 10 days until pressing, then individual lots are moved to barrels where they complete malolactic fermentation. After fermentation, the wine is blended and aged in Hungarian puncheons and French oak barrels for 12 months, then bottled and aged an additional four months before release.
SIENA pairs perfectly with savory Italian food, pasta with flavorful tomato sauces or pizza. SIENA is also delicious with dishes such as Chicken Cacciatore, a duck salad with fruit, like raspberries and oranges, or simply prosciutto on crostini bread.
