An unusually wet and cool spring followed by a late-season rain in June when many of the vines were in bloom stunted the size of the crop and created uneven growing patterns in many of our vineyards. Summer temperatures were cool overall until mid-September when temperatures reached the mid-90s for nearly a week. The grapes for the Chardonnay were harvested from mid-September to mid-October.
Each lot for this wine is whole-cluster pressed, cold settled in stainless steel tanks and within 24 hours, moved to barrels for fermentation. The wines complete 100 percent malolactic fermentation are sur lie aged and stirred weekly. Kept separate until blended, the wine was assembled in July and barreled until bottling in February.
This wine’s rich fruit component complements mildly spiced vegetarian dishes and rich, creamy shellfish entrées. It also works well with veal, poultry, pasta and rice.
