Russian River Valley Vineyards
Russian River Valley is one of the most desirable viticultural appellations in Sonoma County, known for its marine fog that creeps in at night to cool ripening fruit, while the gravelly soils provide perfect drainage for the vines. In the Russian River Valley, deep forests of redwood, oak, bay and pine cling to the curves of the Russian River, while broad, open grasslands cover much of the valley floor that sweeps back from the river banks.

Situated only 20 miles from the Pacific Ocean, the Russian River Valley is one of the coolest grape growing regions in Sonoma County, ideal for Ferrari-Carano's Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc grapes. Summer fog frequently rolls in from the ocean into the valley by mid-afternoon and lingers until well after sunrise the following morning.
Many different soil types are found in the Valley, especially deep alluvial deposits of sand and gravel left over thousands of years by the flooding winter river. This unique combination of soil and climate are the building blocks for creating some of Ferrari-Carano's finest single vineyard Chardonnays.
