2008 Villa Fiore "Fior di Moscato" - Russian River Valley [ $16
]
Available only at Ferrari-Carano, the 2008 Villa Fiore "Fior di Moscato" is a slightly sweet wine from the Russian
River Valley. Deep golden in color, this wine has an aromatic nose of pear, peach blossom and bubblegum, followed by a richly
layered and delicious palate of lychee, vanilla and cream. Perfectly balanced acidity makes this a delicious wine as an aperitif
or as an accompaniment to dessert.
Vintage Notes
The Muscat Canelli and Muscat Giallo fruit for this wine comes from fog-cooled vineyards in the Russian River Valley, an area
known for producing some of the world’s best white wines. A cool, dry year from January to August ensured the vines set
a light, small-berried, intense crop. September and October were mild, with hot weather towards the end of October that ripened
fruit quickly.
Winemakers Notes
When the hand-harvested grapes arrived at the winery, the two lots were gently whole cluster pressed and then moved directly
to stainless steel tanks and cold settled for two days prior to cold fermentation. The cold fermentation helps preserve the
fresh fruit character of the wine. Developed in 100% stainless steel, the resulting wine boasts bright flavors and crisp acidity.

Grilled Papaya and Shrimp Spinach Salad
The 2008 Villa Fiore "Fior di Moscato" is delicious with foods with a little bit of spice
to balance the sweetness in the wine, such as Thai food and Asian-style salads. Pair with fresh fruit
such as apricots and peaches, or a pear tart for a special treat.
