The 2018 Meyer Lemon Olive Oil is a beautifully-fresh oil with pure lemon aromas and flavors. Locally-sourced Meyer Lemons and ripe olives from one of our Alexander Valley Mountain ranches combine to create the perfect canvas for the lemon and fruit to shine.
The 2018 growing season started out a bit cooler than the last several vintages. Bloomtime weather was very good, however, the number of flowers to set into fruit was very low. We entered the summer with full moisture in the soil profile, so irrigation was not necessary to ripen the reduced fruit set. Harvest time weather was ideal and even though there was a reduction in quantity, the fruit ripened to full maturity and produced an excellent quality oil.
We hand harvested olives on December 3, 2018, from our trees at our Alexander Valley orchard. The olives were transported immediately after harvest to Olivino in Hopland; our trusted milling partner for many years. Using a method called "agrumato", our olives and Meyer Lemons were crushed together on the traditional stone mill. This lot was allowed to settle and was racked once prior to bottling.
