Regularly $32, this wine is specially priced for the upcoming holidays. Our Sauvignon Blanc grapes come from a single vineyard in Alexander Valley. What makes this Sauvignon Blanc unique is that the wine is aged completely in French oak barrels, which lends a rich creaminess to this full-bodied but light-style white wine. Delicious and bright, this wine boasts aromas of pear, key lime, orange blossom and honeydew complemented by flavors of lychee, guava and peach.
Our Sauvignon Blanc is a very food-friendly wine that is terrific with white meats such as flaky white fish, shellfish, chicken, pork or veal. Try it paired with seafood risotto, grilled prawns with melon salsa, or a cheese platter with Chèvre, Greek, Feta, Pecorino or extra sharp Cheddar.
How It's Made
Grapes from a single vineyard in Alexander Valley are gently pressed to stainless steel tanks for 48 hours of cold settling. The juice is then transferred to new and older French oak barrels for fermentation. After primary fermentation, the wine is sur lie aged for seven months with weekly stirring for three of those months. This wine does not undergo malolactic fermentation in order to retain its bright flavors and crisp acidity.
Overall, 2016 was a good year, with a spring that produced great set. Despite a third year of drought conditions with some rains in our area, the vines produced ideal yields. Overall warmer temperatures during the summer months allowed fruit to achieve mature, ripe flavors. The grapes were harvested in late August and early September.
