PreVail West Face

Alexander Valley

The grapes for this Cabernet Sauvignon/Syrah blend are grown on the steep slopes of Ferrari-Carano’s LookOut Mountain which sits at the junction of Alexander Valley, Knights Valley and Chalk Hill Appellations. This mountain vineyard, soaring in elevation from 500 to 1,400 feet, is comprised of ancient, weathered sandstone and sandy loam soils bearing low-yielding vines.

Tasting Notes

PreVail West Face is an exquisite, full-bodied wine with aromas of maple, leather, wild berries, and hints of bacon, and violets. On the palate, ripe, bold fruit flavors, with dark chocolate, and plum crostada are supported by ample tannin, with espresso lingering on the finish. This wine’s bold profile will continue to evolve and age beautifully.

Although we experienced an unusually rainy period in April, drought conditions in Sonoma county continued in 2021, with most of the annual precipitation landing in October and December, 2020. Spring temperatures were cooler, with bud break occurring one week later than average, while summer temperatures were above average with less nightly fog and cloud cover.
