Sausage and Calabrian Chili Pizza with Hot Honey

A quick and easy pizza recipe that will leave you coming back for more! Drizzled with homemade hot honey and fresh orange zest brings out the bright flavors in this delicious pizza.


For the Pizza Dough

  • 2 ½ cups bread flour (AP will work as well)
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt

For the Pizza

  • 1x Recipe Quick Pizza Dough
  • 8oz Italian Sausage, cooked and crumbled
  • 8oz shredded low moisture mozzarella
  • 8oz tomato sauce
  • ¼ cup Calabrian chilis in oil, drained with oil reserved
  • 4 tbsp honey
  • Zest of 1 orange, about 1 tbsp

For the Pizza Dough

Preheat oven to 450 degrees F. If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven now. In a large bowl, combine yeast, sugar, and warm water, and let stand for 5 minutes.

Add flour, oil, and salt, and knead until smooth. Divide into 2 dough balls, and cover with lightly greased plastic wrap. Let stand for 10 minutes.

Using a liberal amount of flour, flatten and shape balls into rounds. Transfer to either a floured pizza peel or a lightly greased cookie sheet, and top as desired.

Bake pizza for about 15 minutes, or until crust is golden brown and cheese is melted. Repeat with remaining dough ball.

For the Pizza

Preheat oven to 450 Degrees F. Place pizza stone in oven if using one.

Prepare dough according to recipe, and stretch into rounds.

Top each pizza with 4oz tomato sauce, 4oz cheese, 4oz sausage, and 1/8 cup of the Calabrian chilis.

Bake pizza for about 15 minutes, either directly on the pizza stone or on a lightly greased baking sheet.

While pizza is baking, combine honey with chili oil and orange zest.

As soon as the pizzas have finished baking, remove from oven, and drizzle generously with honey
